Aleigha's First Steps-On Video

The past few days we have been spending time with other children close to Aleigha's age. One little girl in particular, Gia, I have watched for a few hours the last few days. She is 3 months older than Aleigha and she is walking really well. I think Aleigha is admiring her because she keeps trying to walk after her. I have caught a few of Aleigha's steps on video. Yesderday she took the most steps at one time w/out falling which was 5. But for the last couple of hours she keeps picking her self up walking 3-4 steps, falling, and then doing it all over again. I'm sure I'll catch more on tape later, but I wanted to post what I had so far. Thanks Gia for being such a good teacher. WAY TO GO ALEIGHA!

Aleigha's First Steps

This week has been a pretty mundane...yet pretty exciting week. We haven't had any great adventures, or seen any great sites....but even more exciting then that...Aleigha took her first steps this week!!!! (which I am sure is a great adventure in her mind). It was last Saturday night, Aug 9. Chris and I were watching a movie, and she was standing up along the couch when she decided that her stand up toy wasn't too far away. She made the great feat and went for it. She made one complete step (one step w/ each leg) before I screamed in excitement. She then quickly fell to the ground and looked at me like I was a crazy women. It's times like this I'm glad Chris insists on watching movies with the light on. Since then she has taken a step here and there, but still is mostly crawling. Other then the walking adventure, our week has been pretty mundane. The weather has gotten a little cooler the past week or two so Aleigha and I haven't been going swimming. We've been mostly staying at home cleaning and getting for school. We have visited with friends and family this week so that has been a lot of fun. Aleigha has been sick though the last 2 days. Mainly with just a fever and not wanting to eat anything. We have been able to control the fever with ibuprofen and Tylenol, but we haven't been able to increase her appetite much. She's pretty cranky and clingy when her fever is high, but once the medicine kicks in then she is ready to play. She has been nursing more (I'm glad I still nurse so I don't feel too bad that she's not getting any solids). After talking to others, I have learned that it is a bug going around. Poor baby. It breaks my heart to see her sick or sad. I'm just thankful that most of it has been controllable...I know it could be a lot worse. Chris is still working at North Bend but the job comes to an end here in a few weeks. So he will be looking else where...he has a few places in mind. North Bend has been a great job though. We've been able to swim and camp for free. And he likes the environment. They are pretty good with scheduling him around his job at the floor shop (he works there 1 or 2 days a week). He has been kept pretty busy, but we always get a few hours a day that the 3 of us can just hang out, play, and relax together...and that's really important to me. Anyways...to sum things up...things are going well for us. We are really happy with how things are going right now in our lives. I posted a cute video of Aleigha "doing laundry." It's so cute how she is starting to mimic the things she sees others do now...watch as she tries to put the socks together. She knows the concept of putting on her shoes...I watched her yesterday trying to get her shoe on her foot...it was pretty cute. She also knows how to brush her hair and how to hold the phone. I know that I have a pretty smart daughter. She has and continues to bring us much joy. Enjoy the video.

I just downloaded this awesome picture program called Picasa....THANKS CHAMBRAE! I'm just messing around with it to see all the cool things I can do with the program. It's pretty neat. If you are interesed in the program...google Picasa. Like I said...it's free, quick, easy to use, and really neat. I was able to just add this collage right to my blog from the program.

Lots of Videos

We got back on our trip from Virginia Beach in the early hours of Monday morning. We have been enjoying this week spending lots of time with Chris. We had a great time on vacation and spending time with family. However, I think the trip gave Aleigha separation anxiety towards Chris. Every time Chris is holding her and puts her down or hands her to me or anyone else, she starts crying really hard and tries holding on to him as tight as she can. It's so sweet yet so sad. That's the main reason why Aleigha and I turned down a trip to NJ with my parents this week. Chris wouldn't be able to go with us again and neither one of us wanted to leave him again. Anyways, we have had a good week. I finished up my online psychology course. We had the option to meet at the college for a quiz bowl or to take a test and write a research paper. I opted for the quiz bowl. It was a lot of fun. Aleigha came with me, and of course, she was the life of the party. She would crawl down the isle and stop at every single person and wave to them. She did her "act surprised" face to everyone. And of course she waved and blew kisses. Also this week, Aleigha turned 10 months old!! She is so close to walking...I give her a couple of weeks. She's growing up quick. Here are some recent pics and videos.

Aleigha playing in the sand and with her new sand bucket.

We buried her legs under the sand...she thought it was pretty fun.

Making her "Act Surprise" face...looks like Uncle Wade is too.

Aleigha and Mommy having fun at the beach.

This was her 1st very own ice cream cone...she ate the whole thing with no one helping her hold it or feed her or anything...and she loved it!! The cone was so tiny...about 1 inch tall.

Aleigha loved sitting on the truck...she didn't want to get off.

"Act Surprised!!"

Aleigha has been making a funny face, so we have trained her to do it on command. We say "Aleigha act surprised!" and this what we get. Enjoy.
