Wow!! I am soooooooo behind on this blog. I almost contemplated just skipping all this but Aleigha was too into Halloween and Christmas this year so I thought I'd at least put a couple pics of each. We have had a good Winter, but we are certainly ready for Spring. Aleigha is getting so big! She is growing up way too soon. Right now at just under 17 months she has a 50+ word vocabulary. I have to admit that not all the words are the clearest, but most are. She uses a few short command sentences like "Please help me." and "Get it." and "Come on (sounds more like 'mone' as she motions w/ her hand to come)" She repeats a lot of what we say now. So daddy needs to make sure no "potty" words come out of his mouth. The other day he got in the car (Aleigha and I were already in the car) and he says "Oh crap!"....low and behold...next thing we hear......"crap" come out of her little mouth. She is still using baby sign language as well as speaking. She uses 10 different signs. She also is counting to 3 (of course w/ our help)!!!!! She can say many of the letters of the alphabet...(she does not know the alphabet)...but she knows some of the letters. She knows many parts of her body including: head, hair, eyes, ears, nose, teeth, tongue, chin, belly, belly button, elbow, wrist, arm, leg, fingers, toes, feet and butt. She loves...and I mean LOVES to read and be read too right now. After her doll...books are her favorite toys at the moment. Her hair is getting pretty long and curly...it's pretty darn cute. She is a little dare devil, very adventurous. She climbs on top of everything!!! The other day, I put her in the living room (which I thought was truly baby proof)...made sure the baby gate was locked....ran to wake up Chris to ask him to watch her while I took a short nap...he immediately went to watch her, and when he arrived in the living room about 3 mins after I left...he found her standing on the end table, jumping onto the couch!!...luckily she didn't hurt herself. She is a lot of fun...that's for sure. She has a lot of teeth now....the last time I counted was 12, and 2 more on the way. She went from having 5 teeth, and then within a matter of 2 or 3 weeks the other 7 popped up. She takes 2 (1 1/2 to 2 hour) naps a day, and is sleeping 12 hours through the night....it is a beautiful thing....we love it and truly appreciate it. We have started potty training. We gave her a potty for Christmas and 2 days later she used it for the first time. We decided we would take things slow at first. She pees in the potty on average of 2 times a day. Of course there are some days she doesn't use it at all....and the most she has used it has been 8 times in one day. We would like her to be potty trained by the time the baby arrives, so we still have 3 months to perfect it. Along with all the good comes the bad....she has started hitting, biting, and pulling hair. About 2 weeks ago she was doing it at every chance she got. I was very busy with school for the week she was "acting out" and think that a lot of it was b/c she wasn't getting the attention from me that she was used to or deserved. Luckily the biggest assignments for school are over, and I have focused on giving her more attention and doing my homework when she is napping or asleep. After that one week these habits still exist but have dramatically reduced. Overall, she is a very loving, happy, and pleasant child. And for that we are grateful.
As I believe everyone knows now....I am pregnant!! I am 26 weeks so far. We found out that out that this new bundle of joy is a little boy!! We are very excited and feel very fortunate to have at least one of each....(takes off any undue stress for future pregnancies...haha). If you ask Aleigha where our baby is she will point to my belly and give my stomach hugs and kisses. She has her own baby, Lucy, who she absolutely adores. She has to go to bed with Lucy, feed Lucy, brush her teeth...and the latest thing is dressing and undressing her. I think...or at least hope...she is somewhat understanding the concept that there will be a new baby in our home soon. I think she will make a great big sister. Right now we are still undecided about a name, but we do a few in our minds. His due date is June 8th. Luckily, I graduate from college (finally!!) in the middle of May...so about 3 weeks before the baby is due. It is an exciting time for us.
Chris just started a new job a couple of weeks ago which allows him to work from home. He is in his "office" for 8 hours a day...but we are able to visit him when he's not quite so busy and eat lunch with him....so those are some pretty nice perks. Not to mention, he doesn't spend any gas money to go to work and he doesn't need any new clothes! He seems to like it a lot.
Well, I think I have caught up on just about everything that is going on in our lives right now. I hope to stay on top of my blogs from now on out...but school has been keeping me pretty busy, so we'll just have to see. Now for the pictures....hope you enjoy! (Sorry they aren't really in the best of order...more recent ones are first)
